Śrīla Gurudeva:

nama oṁ viṣṇu-pādāya ācārya-siṁha-rūpiṇe śrī-śrīmad-bhakti-prajñāna-keśava iti nāmine

atimartya-caritrāya svāśritānāṁ ca pāline jīva-duḥkhe sadārtāya śrī-nāma-prema-dāyine

[I offer praṇāmas unto the most worshipable lion-like ācārya, jagad-guru oṁ viṣṇupāda aṣṭottara-śata Śrī Śrīmad Bhakti Prajñāna Keśava Gosvāmī Mahārāja, who nurtures with extreme, divine affection as a parental guardian those who take shelter of him, who is always genuinely unhappy to see the suffering jīvas who have turned away from Kṛṣṇa, and who is bestowing upon them śrī nāma along with prema. (Śrī Gauḍīya Gīti-guccha: Śrīla Bhakti Prajñāna Keśava Gosvāmī praṇāma))]

vāñchā-kalpa-tarubyaś ca kṛpā-sindhubhya eva ca patitānāṁ pāvanebhyo vaiṣṇavebhyo namo namaḥ

I offer praṇāmas unto the Vaiṣṇavas, who are just like wish-fulfilling desire trees, who are an ocean of mercy, and who deliver the fallen, conditioned souls. [Śrī Gauḍīya Gīti-guccha (Śrī Vaiṣṇava vandanā)]

namo mahā-vadānyāya kṛṣṇa-prema-pradāya te kṛṣṇāya kṛṣṇa-caitanya-nāmne gaura-tviṣe namaḥ

[I offer praṇāma unto Śrī Kṛsṇa-Caitanya, who is Śrī Kṛṣṇa Himself. Having assumed the golden hue of Śrīmatī Rādhikā, He is munificently bestowing Kṛṣṇa-prema, the rarest of all gifts. Śrī Gauḍīya Gīti-guccha (Śrīman Mahāprabhu vandanā)]

bhaktyā vihīnā aparādha-lakṣaiḥ kṣiptāś ca kāmādi-taraìga-madhye kṛpāmayi tvāṁ śaraṇaṁ prapannā vṛnde numas te caraṇāravindam

[O merciful Vṛndā-devi, being devoid of devotion and guilty of unlimited offenses, I am being tossed about in the ocean of material existence by the turbulent waves of lust, anger, greed and other inauspicious impediments. Therefore, I take shelter of you as I offer praṇama unto your lotus feet. (Śrī Vāndā Devy-aṣṭakam [8], Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura)]

aṅzqga-śyāmalima-cchaṭābhir abhito mandīkṛtendīvaraṁ jāḍyaṁ jāguḍa-rociṣāṁ vidadhataṁ paṭṭāmbarasya śriyā vṛndāraṇya-nivāsinaṁ hṛdi lasad-dāmābhir āmodaraṁ rādhā-skandha- niveśitojjvala-bhujaṁ dhyāyema dāmodaram

[I meditate upon that Śrī Dāmodara – whose dark bodily luster is millions of times more beautiful than the blue lotus flower, whose brilliant yellow garments rebuke the radiance of golden kuṅkuma, whose residence is Śrī Vṛndāvana-dhāma, whose chest is beautified by a swinging vaijayantī garland, and whose splendorous left hand rests upon the right shoulder of Śrīmatī Rādhikā. (Śrī Stava-mālā, Rādhā-dāmodara-dhyāna,[2] Rūpa Gosvāmī)]

By the causeless mercy of Guru and Gaurāṅga we have passed up to (indistinct) days… Our parikramā is going on well. Only (by) their mercy. So, I think all glories to Guru and Gaurāṅga.

Especially today is annakūṭa mahotsava. But before this, before Amāvasyā (the new moon), we call that tithi (day) dhanteras: dhan teras.

What is the meaning of dhanteras? Dhan means wealth; and teras…Kṛṣṇa is the most…

Devotees: Wealthy person…

Śrīla Gurudeva: No, no; wealth of Vrajavāsīs. They used to love heartly to Kṛṣṇa. They have given their hearts and souls and everything; husbands and wives and children and everything for Kṛṣṇa. Especially on that day. So, it is called Dhanteras. But worldly people they don't do like this. They gamble to make money. So, someone that gambles, like Mahārāja Yudhiṣṭhira, lost his whole property, his kingdom, his wife too.

So, now it is also — we do Dhanteras for Kṛṣṇa bhakti and worldly peoples they gamble to make so many enjoyments; and thus they destroy their lives in Dhanteras. In whole (of) India they can do on that day. They take what…?

Devotees: Wine.

Śrīla Gurudeva: Wine and all these things. But we don't. And after that Amāvasyā — that is called Dipavali. What is the meaning of Dipavali?

(indistinct verse: mata mat...jyotir...maya)

What is the meaning? (The) meaning is that (the) world is andhakāra:full of darkness. This world is māyā.

What has come from māyā? Not Yogamāyā; Mahāmāyā is called andhakāra—darkness. We are all in darkness but now, by the causeless mercy of Guru and Gaurāṅga, we are trying to come from that darkness and to go into the light.

What is (that) light? Oh, Kṛṣṇa bhakti is light. (Lava) śakti is light. Under the guidance of Vrajavāsīs, especially Caitanya Mahāprabhu's idea, under the guidance of gopīs, who will serve Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa conjugal (with) inclination towards Rādhikā. This is the full light. There is no light except this. This is light. And after this, Dipavali, we have passed yesterday; and now today is Pratipāda. Today Kṛṣṇa warned his father, Nanda–baba, not to worship Indra. He can not do anything. He can not help us. So, we should worship Girirāja Govardhana.

What is the meaning of Govardhana? Go means cows; go means gopas; go means gopīs; go means prema-—all kinds of transcendental knowledge.

You know? Perhaps you know or not. Śrīla Prabhupāda gave the name to our Gurudeva: Bhakti Prajñāna Keśava. He gave first to Gurudeva after that in (a) dream he told and by the mouth of pūjyapāda Śrīdhar Mahārāj, he gave this name; but Guru–mahārāja, Prabhupāda, has given this name — Bhakti Prajñāna.

I thought (I would find the meaning of Bhakti Prajñāna) in (one of) Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura('s) any kīrtana. Bhakti Prajñāna means…?

What is the meaning? Prema bhakti.

viśuddha prema bhakti / bhakti prajñāna

Prajñāna is vijñāna (indistinct) rupena jñāna.

What is that? That is prema bhakti, gopī bhakti, Kṛṣṇa bhakti. In the line of gopīs.

So, today is Pratipāda; very important, very important day. Why? This day all Vrajavāsīs, by the consultation of Kṛṣṇa, all made so many kinds of preparations, so many. Thousands of preparations that they used to do for Indra, for Girirāja Govardhana. Thousands and thousands, millions of bullock carts they used to bring from their houses to this Girirāja Govardhana. All around Govardhana millions of carts and millions of gopas and gopīs assembled. Before this they did pūjā of vaiṣṇavas, Garga–ācārya, (Sāndīpani Ṛṣi), especially Bhāguri because he was the guru of Kṛṣṇa. He gave the mantra. What mantra you know? Radha mantra to Kṛṣṇa—is Bhāguri Ṛṣi.

So, all of the Vrajavāsīs worshipped them; we should also worship vaiṣṇavas. You are vey lucky, very, very, lucky that there are so many exalted vaiṣṇavas among you. So, you can worship.

Secondly, vaiṣṇavas, brāhmaṇas; oh, we have so many brāhmaṇas, so many brāhmaṇas. All are brāhmaṇas; and especially as a brāhmaṇa from our Vrajavāsī our pāṇḍā, Giridhārī, his name is also Giridhārī.

This maṭha is also Giridhārī Gauḍīya Maṭha and now we are in…we have brought millions of carts from (all) over the whole world, not only from Vraja. And today we will worship, first worship guru, vaiṣṇavas, vaiṣṇavis, and then brāhmaṇas, and then cows. We have a lot of cows here. Very nice cows.

After (indistinct) we should go and worship cows here by (indistinct) by worshipping by giving flowers to the feet of cows. Because they are worshipable (by) even Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa used to serve them daily. So, worship. And after that what Vrajavāsīs here, you have prepared. So, many varieties we should try to take it with 108 carts. Oh, ladies will take and (indistinct) and paraphernalia has been prepared by Premānanda Prabhu and his company, party. And you all. We will take it on our head and vaiṣṇavas will do kīrtana and we will go to the same place where we have done before. And then we will serve all the vaiṣṇavas all the brāhmaṇas and everyone mahā-prasādam that has been offered to Kṛṣṇa.

And we will make some dry prasādam that will be given to you all and you can take it in your homes. Today we will do.

But we should take vow, pratijñā, that we will never give up all these things. What we are giving in our classes, this is everything. Chant hari name in the way shown by Rūpa Gosvāmī:

tan-nāma-rūpa-caritādi-sukīrtanānu- smṛtyoḥ krameṇa rasanā-manasī niyojya tiṣṭhan vraje tad-anurāgi-janānugāmī kālaṁ nayed akhilam ity upadeśa-sāram

[While living in Vraja as a follower of the sternal residents of Vraja, who possess inherent spontaneous love for Śrī Kṛṣṇa, one should utilize all his time by sequentially engaging the tongue and the mind in meticulous chanting and remembrance of Kṛṣṇa's names, form, qualities and pastimes. This is the essence of all instruction. (Śrī Upadeśāmṛta (8))]

Whether you are here with me, with other vaiṣṇavas or when you are returning to your places, no harm, think that I am in Vraja by mind and in the guidance of pure vaiṣṇavas. You should chant and remember and do all the activities (that) we are doing here. Don't be…Always remember the words of Caitanya Mahāprabhu. And what is that?

--- (unknown verse here)----

You should remember all these things.

This is not (a) marriage party. That you have come to select your wives and everything. Be very careful otherwise there is no place here. You should go away from here and be very far away from us. I want pure bhakti.

Gaura premānande!
Hari hari bol!

(break in recording)

That we will do pūjā of brāhmaṇas and vaiṣṇavas. Guru we have done, we do. Vaiṣṇavas we are doing and do. (indistinct)

Mahārāja and all are vaiṣṇavas and he is Vrajavāsī actual Vrajavāsī. You know he is chanting Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa. So, he is chanting. He is (the) father of our… the pāṇḍā of Prabhupāda, Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura. He used to love him like dear son. And he was very bold and brave and he was restless. His son Giridhārī, he kept the name Giridhārī, we are lucky to have a pāṇḍā, Vrajavāsī. He also loves me like father and Guru. So we are now worshipping…

I also want to request you all that today we are doing annakūṭa here tomorrow in Rādhā-kuṇḍa and after that we will go to Varṣāṇā; in the way so many places we will do parikramā.

So, I request you all that we should give them some praṇāli. So, not now. I think that it will be better that our Madhu Mahārāja, Vana Mahārāja, Araṇya Mahārāja, Brajanātha, and Rāsānanda prabhu. You should give, they will collect and you should all give something.

If you come alone the pāṇḍās will take you not less than 200, 300, 400, or at least 100. They will beat you; in this way and that way. But our pāṇḍā is very good pāṇḍā. So, try to give 5 at least. Not less than. At least 5 rupees; and if you can give more you should give to them.

This is our pūjā and after class we will go to (indistinct) and we will worship. Now, what I have told in English you should tell in Bengali. Very brief.

Anyone who will donate something, prepare something, give only one rice, (for) this annakūṭa, his whole life and afterlife and lakhs, they will not beg anything. Lakṣmī may beg, but those who take part in Govardhana annakūṭa, here especially, even a (grain of) rice, any paraphernalia, making some laddu or anything; giving something to Premānanda Prabhu or annakūṭa or (me) all — for whole life and several lakhs of lives you will have Kṛṣṇa prema; no doubt.

(break in recording)

And others? sannyāsīs?

(others indistinct)

Do you want to come? Oh, you should go and come.
