Śrīla Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja: He did not appear alone. He took all of his associates. In the same way, Śrīla Prabhupāda appeared with his associates and very furiously he has spread mission of Caitanya Mahāprabhu and Raghunātha throughout the whole world. Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura made a plan that, like Gaurakiśora Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja, like Rūpa Gosvāmī, Sanātana Gosvāmī, we should follow them; but not totally like that. Like a mission. At that time Rāma-Kṛṣṇa mission and so many missions were preaching everywhere; like a mission that we establish maṭhas in Māyāpur, in Vṛndāvana, Vraja-maṇḍala, here, there — in the whole world. And we will teach brahmacārīs and sannyāsis the teachings of Caitanya Mahāprabhu; and in this way we will train sannyāsis and brahmacārīs and they will preach the mission of Mahāprabhu throughout the whole world.
One very learned boy, very qualified, perhaps you heard that he took birth in Jagannātha Purī and so many things; tulasī mala and everything. He was very intelligent. He had a very sharp memory. He went to Sanskrit college and in a few years he told that, “I have not come to learn from them, I have come to teach them.” He left college and then Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura thought, “How will he earn his livelihood?” But Prabhupāda was not a man of this world; Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura also knew this. Then Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura bought the land in Māyāpur, Caitanya Mahāprabhu’s birthplace, and there he made like a (sanctuary— (indistinct)) for (indistinct), Viṣṇupriyā Devī, Mahāprabhu, (indistinct) and others. He discovered the house of Jagannātha Miśra and Śacī-devī and they found Kūrmadevā…
And thus during Gaura pūrṇimā he met with Śrīla Gaurakiśora Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja. He used to come to Surabhi kuṇḍa to meet Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura and he used to sng, Gaurakiśora Dāsa, kothāya go premamayi rādhe rādhe / rādhe rādhe go, jaya rādhe rādhe (1) dekhā diye prāṇa rākha, rādhe rādhe / tomāra kāṅgāla tomāya ḍāke, rādhe rādhe (2) (Śrī Gauḍīya Gīti-guccha — Kothāya Go Premamayi Rādhe Rādhe).
Prabhupāda has written (that) in his life, “I have never heard (such) a pathetic tone. I was moved by his pathetic tone. And I felt (that) this person, though blind, he can not (even) sign (his own name) but he has realization of Caitanya Mahāprabhu and Rādhā-Kṛṣṇa. So, I must select my Gurudeva like this. But Gaurakiśora Dāsa Mahārāja has promised, “I will not make any disciple.” Then Prabhupāda left eating and everything (else), (including) sleeping, and started to do (intense austerities to gain the favor of Śrīla Gaurakiśora Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja). And then Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura was moved. And so told to Gaurakiśora Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja, “You have come to be merciful to all but how you are very cruel to this boy. Do you want that this boy should die?”
Then he told, “I will ask Gaura-Sundara, let me ask.”
(The) second day (passed as well as the) third day (and) Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura said, “Have you asked?”
Śrīla Gaurakiśora Dāsa Bābājī Mahārāja said, “I forgot.”
Then he again asked why to see (indistinct) of that boy. And then (in) Godruma he initiated Prabhupāda. He gave harināma and dīkṣā. And there are so many histories you will know. You know all these things. So, we pray to Śrīla Prabhupāda on his…
Brajanātha dāsa: Disappearance.
Śrīla Nārāyaṇa Gosvāmī Mahārāja: …this auspicious day he should be merciful to us that we can enter into Rūpa-Raghunātha bhajana.
